STOCKTON, CA — Three people died when the speeding car they were riding in left a roadway east of Stockton, crashed into a tree and split in two early Tuesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The male driver and male and female passengers were all declared dead at the scene in a walnut orchard off Jack Tone Road north of Copperopolis Road. Their identities have not been released pending notification of family members.

According to the CHP, all three were riding in a 2002 black Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Jack Tone when, for unknown reasons about 1:45 a.m., it left the roadway to the east.

Visible signs at the crash scene show the car crossed over an irrigation ditch and slammed hard into a large walnut tree, severing the Honda into two large pieces. The second half traveled another 30 to 40 feet before coming to rest and becoming engulfed in flame.

Car parts, papers and clothing were scattered over a wide area of the crash scene in the otherwise well-kept orchard. A crushed beer can was among the items at the scene, however, the CHP stated at this point in their investigation it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

If anyone witnessed this collision or events leading up to the collision, they are being asked to contact the Stockton Area CHP at (209) 938-4800.

Most drunk or drug-related crashes occur in the earlier a.m. hours, like this one.  These three morons will not be missed, but the injured walnut tree will.  LOL.
