MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- A construction worker is in serious condition after falling several floors while working on the side of a building in Midtown Manhattan Tuesday morning.
The call came in for help at 110 38th Street between Sixth Avenue and Broadway at 9:53 a.m.
FDNY officials tell Eyewitness News that the man landed on scaffolding and rescuers brought him in through the 16th floor.
The person who fell was a worker at the site. It's not clear what his role is at the construction site. He was most likely doing facade restoration work for
Schnellbacher-Sendon Group.
His fall was broken when he struck and went through scaffolding just one floor above the ground, witness Jose Nunez said.
The building is undergoing renovation and is shrouded in netting with plank landings every few floors. The worker is a regular on the site, 1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa reported.
“I just saw him every day in the morning,” said Jose Nunex, who works in the barbershop on the street level floor of 110 West 38th St.
Witnesses said he was cut on his head and hurt his legs, Papa reported.
The worker was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition,
where he's listed in stable condition, officials said.
Other workers at the scene and companies working on the building — Everest Scaffolding company and Schnellbacher-Sendon Group — all declined to comment.
