TRAVIS COUNTY, TEXAS - Medics said a man in his 30s died after falling from a roof at an elementary school in West Travis County on Thursday morning.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the man fell from about 30 feet at West Cypress Hills Elementary.
Kristen Dark, the spokesperson with the Travis County Sheriff's Office, said the fall was most likely an accident. Lake Travis Independent School District Spokesperson Marco Alvarado said the man was a subcontractor for a company that works with the school district called Taylor Lightning Protection
Dark said the man fell at around 9 a.m. while working on a roof replacement project.
“Everything we need to do at this point is done, we’ll turn over all materials to OSHA, and they’ll recreate everything and figure exactly what happened in their investigation,” said Dark.
The man was completing repairs for the damage left behind from the hail storm in April 2015.
The district said there were delays with the work because they had to work with the insurance company and wait until students were not in school to complete the repairs.
Meanwhile, deputies said they will hold off on releasing the name of the worker until after his family is notified.
