Construction worker was crushed to death after a construction lift fell on him at the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan site

A 21-year-old man is dead after a construction lift fell on him at the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan site.

Emergency crews were called to the construction site, adjacent to Royal University Hospital, at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A heavy steel construction lift fell on the man, according to the Saskatoon Fire Department.

MD Ambulance paramedics were giving him CPR when firefighters arrived on scene, a spokesperson for the department said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Graham construction.

Police and Occupational Health and Safety crews are still investigating.

The incident occurred on the site’s south side, according to the fire department.
