Worker Crushed to Death After Falling 50 Feet From Water Tower

Case remains under investigation

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS -

On Monday, shortly after 11 a.m., Brownsville police responded to an accident on the 4000 block of Military Highway.


Officers discovered a man had fallen off a water tower, while performing his duties. The man was identified as 21-year-old Pedro Samuel Salazar. He worked for Orbit Broadband.

Witnesses told the officers, Salazar had climbed over 50 feet to perform routine maintenance work to a satellite antenna. According to authorities, he lost his grip and fell to the ground, while he was climbing.

Salazar was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. An autopsy was ordered and the case remains under investigation.

Orbit Broadband Operating Director Richard Galvan released the following statement to CHANNEL 5 NEWS:


"We at Orbit are deeply sorrowed by this and our prayers go out to the individual and his family. There is an ongoing investigation and we are working with all those involved. Out of respect for his family and his coworkers, we ask for some privacy during this very difficult time."
