Maintenance worker seriously injured in accident at Carpenter Technology in Reading, PA while working on piece of machinery

READING, Pa. - 

A man was seriously injured on the job in Reading on Friday. 

A Carpenter Technology maintenance employee was working on a piece of machinery outside one of the company's production buildings in Reading around 11:20 a.m. when he suffered a serious injury to one of his legs, according to a Carpenter spokesman. 

First responders from both Reading and neighboring Muhlenberg Township were dispatched to respond to the plant's gate at North Front and Cathedral streets, adjacent to FirstEnergy Stadium. 

The injured employee, whose name has not been released, was reported to be conscious when emergency crews arrived on the scene. 

He was rushed to Reading Hospital.

 A spokesman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) told 69 News that the agency is investigating the incident, but he had no information to release.
