Drunk driving suspected in deadly crash in Northeast Philadelphia that killed a man and critically injured a woman











Police say drunk driving may have led to a deadly crash Northeast Philadelphia.

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) --

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of driving under the influence following a deadly crash in Northeast Philadelphia.

It happened at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3000 block of Woodhaven Road.


Police say a husband and wife, both 53 years old, were in a sedan that was struck by another vehicle.

The sedan flipped, trapping the couple inside.

Rescuers were able to extricate both, and medics took them to Aria Health/Torresdale.

The man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The woman is listed in critical condition.

The driver of what police called the striking vehicle was taken into custody.

The 26-year-old man was not hurt.

He was being held on suspicion of DUI.

Police continue to investigate.
