PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) -
A motorist who didn’t stop struck and killed a 57-year-old man as he crossed a Phoenix roadway early Sunday morning.
A police investigation determined William Barnes was apparently crossing 51st Avenue near the Maryvale Parkway intersection at around 4 a.m. when he was hit by a car heading north, according to Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes.
Officers found his body lying in the road.
The suspect vehicle may have been a 2005 to 2010 Chrysler 300 passenger car, Holmes said. The vehicle may have sustained lower front-end damage and would be missing a plastic wheel well.
Police detectives are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of this collision, or anyone with information concerning this investigation, to call Crime Stop at 602-262-6151. People can also dial Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
