Highway 52 near Hastings was closed for more than an hour today in both directions because of a crash that killed a man from Fountain.
Minnesota State Patrol reports the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 52 near Dakota County Road 42.
A Jeep Wrangler was driving south on 52 when the top of the vehicle blew off and hit a pickup truck on the highway behind.
46-year-old John Ostrom, of Fountain, was driving that Ford pickup, pulled over, and walked into the grassy median in the middle of the road. That's when another car swerving to avoid traffic hit Ostrom and killed him.
