A 32-year-old Billings man is dead after a firework accident late Saturday night, according to Billings Police.
Sgt. Harley Cagle said the man died of blunt force trauma due to a mishap with mortar firework.
The incident occured around 10:30 p.m. on the South Side on the 3300 block of 5th Avenue South and was pronounced dead on scene.
The investigation was in the backyard where police had taped off access to the home.
No one was else injured.
The man was not a resident of the home. Cagle could not provide more information regarding the situation.
Billings Police has kept busy throughout the night responding to calls, but Cagle said there had not been any other injuries due to fireworks so far.
Right now the death is considered accidental.
