A 64-year-old man was medevaced after the vessel he was aboard became disabled 11 miles west of John’s Pass, Florida, Sunday.
Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received a 911 call transfer from a resident in the area reporting three red flares approximately three to four miles southwest of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, arrived on scene of the reported flares and located an anchored vessel with three people waving their arms with one person experiencing chest pains and was in need of medical attention.
A 29-fot Response Boat – Small II crew from Coast Guard Station Sand Key, Florida arrived on scene, medevaced the man to a Pinellas County Fire and Rescue crew and towed the vessel to John’s Pass Marina.
