ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
Eight people were rescued by a Coast Guard crew, a good Samaritan and a Tow Boat US crew after the 22-foot boat they were aboard began taking on water and sank approximately one miles southeast of Sanibel in San Carlos Bay, Florida, Monday.
Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders were contacted at 5:21 p.m., via MERT activation reporting they were taking on water, sinking and were in need of assistance.
The good Samaritan, a 29-foot Response Boat – Small II crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and a Tow Boat US crew arrived on scene removed all people from the water and transported them to the Coast Guard station.
No injuries were reported.
