SCOTT COUNTY, MISSOURI
A Scott County Highway Department employee was killed Monday
morning when his vehicle was struck by a train.
The fatal accident was revealed by Scott County commissioner
Dennis Ziegenhorn while speaking to a group gathered Monday morning for the
memorial highway dedication for Irvin Garms.
Boby J. Long, 55, of Sikeston, Missouri, was fatally injured
(aka, killed) when he drove a county service truck, a 2005 Ford F350 onto the
tracks crossing County Road 432 west of U.S. 61, according to a Missouri State
Highway Patrol online crash report.
The Ford was struck and rolled over by a BNSF train driven
by Stan Anderson of Scott City, the report stated.
The signal type at that crossing was a sign only.
Long was pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County
assistant coroner James Donner at 10:44 a.m.
Long's death was the 25th fatality in Troop E for 2015.
