2 killed after the driver ignored warning signals causing a Northern Southern train to strike their car in Greenville County, SC

The Greenville County coroner has identified the two people killed after a train struck a vehicle in the Taylors area late Tuesday night. 

The crash happened at Freeman Drive and Stephenson Street about one mile south of Greer around 10:30 p.m.

Troopers said a Norfolk Southern train was heading north when a Chevy Impala ignored warning signs and was hit.

The driver of the car and the passenger were killed, according to Highway Patrol. 

Greenville County Coroner Park Evans identified the driver as 23-year-old Reginald Mitchell II and the passenger as 61-year-old Carolyn Latrell Miller.

Evans said both suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries. The manner of death was ruled an accident, according to Evans. 

The train operator was not hurt.
