Route 2 east was closed Tuesday morning in the area of exits 16 and 17 after a tractor trailer crashed into the back of a Department of Transportation truck, according to the state police.
The crash was reported around 10:30 a.m. when a tractor trailer traveling east on Route 2 crashed into the back of a special crash-protection truck the DOT deploys behind its street sweeping vehicles to protect them and motorists, DOT spokesman Kevin Nursick said.
Police called for a wrecker to haul away the tractor trailer, state police said.
Both the driver of the tractor trailer and the DOT truck were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not described as serious.
