The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was reported to be in stable condition.
Watchstanders in the Coast Guard District 7 command center were notified of the situation by phone at 5 a.m. The passenger suffered a hip and leg injury while aboard the cruise ship Disney Magic. A Coast Guard flight surgeon was briefed on the situation and recommended the man be medevaced.
A crew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston was launched to hoist the patient from the cruise ship.
The patient was taken to Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
