JAMAICA, QUEENS (PIX11)
Two people are dead after a car slammed at a high rate of speed into the scaffolding
outside a high school in Queens early Sunday morning.
The crash was reported around 4:26 a.m. in front
of Thomas Edison High School at 165-65 84th Avenue in Jamaica.
Police say a 2001 Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on
Grand Central Parkway service road, lost control and struck construction
scaffolding located in front of the school. The car burst into flames upon
impact with both victims inside.
The two people were pronounced dead on the the scene. Their
identities have not been released pending family notification.
The investigation is ongoing. It is rather obvious however that the driver
was speeding and/or was drunk and/or on drugs at 4:30 am in the morning when he slammed his car at a high speed into scaffolding located clearly well inside the sidewalk. RIP.
