ARGYLE, TEXAS
One construction worker was killed and three more were
injured after the steel frame of a building under-construction collapsed in
Argyle Thursday morning.
Argyle Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mac Hohenberg
says the man who died was on a lift, about 35 feet up, that also came down when
the structure fell. Two men were treated and released from a hospital. The
third injured man was treated at the scene.
The workers with Northstar Construction were building a new
indoor practice facility at Argyle High School when the building collapsed at
191 U.S. 377.
The Argyle School District superintendent confirmed that one
construction worker has died, and three more were injured. No names have been
released.
Authorities are trying to determine what caused the collapse
at the site in Argyle, about 20 miles north of Fort Worth. Heavy beams and
other parts of frame were scattered on the ground. AISD is leading the investigation, with the
Department of Public Safety and the police department assisting.
Construction on the building began about two months ago and
was set to end in August.

Argyle Independent School District superintendent Telena
Wright stated that one person died in the collapse and three other individuals
were hurt.
All of the victims were construction workers. Their names
have not yet been released. Wright added that no students or school staff
members were near the structure at the time of the collapse.
The structure was being built by Northstar Builders Group,
which is based in Coppell. A bond package passed last year included $3.7
million for the activity center, to be used by the school’s band and athletics groups.
