FORT WORTH, TEXAS

Four firefighters and a driver were injured when a truck hit a police cruiser, which then slammed into a fire truck early Monday morning in Fort Worth.

The accident occurred at I-35W at Golden Triangle Boulevard north of 287 as police and firefighters worked to clear the scene from an earlier wreck.

According to police, the driver of a truck hit an unoccupied police cruiser, which then rammed the fire truck. The truck was flipped onto its top during the crash and the police cruiser left mangled.

Three of the firefighters were transported to Harris Methodist Hospital with minor injuries. Authorities say the firefighters reported neck and back pain after the crash. All three firefighters were released from the hospital later in the morning.

Another firefighter and the driver of the truck were treated at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
