The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot of a
small aircraft died after his plane crashed in northern Oklahoma.
The federal agency reported that an ultralight aircraft
carrying one person crashed shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday just south of Woodward
for an unknown reason. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the pilot as
56-year-old Dennis Dale Baird.
Authorities say the cause of the crash is under
investigation.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the FAA will be on the
scene Monday to begin its investigation.

No injuries have been reported in the crash of an ultralight
plane in Harnett County.
The sheriff's office says the 71-year-old pilot reported losing power shortly after takeoff Sunday from a private, grass-covered landing strip several miles from the Harnett Regional Jetport.
The pilot says he flew toward a tree line to avoid hitting any homes and crashed several hundred feet from the runway.
Authorities say he was shaken up, but wasn't hurt.
