Five people were taken to hospitals following a
three-vehicle crash on the Bishop Ford Freeway Sunday morning on the Far South
Side, officials said.
It happened at 11:23 a.m. in the northbound lanes near 119th
Street, said an Illinois State Police District Chicago trooper.
One of the three vehicles involved was a white SUV which
flipped and wound up on Doty Avenue east of the freeway, the trooper said.
A Chicago Fire Department chief said five people were taken to
at least two different hospitals but had no further details. One victim was medevacked.
The trooper described the injuries as "minor."
The cause of the crash was not immediately known and the
trooper was not sure yet if there would be any citations. As of about 12:30
p.m., the right lane was still blocked
