WARNING: BRIDGES MAYBE ICY: MAN KILLED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH AN ICE CREAM TRUCK, AFTER HIS CAR HITS A PATCH OF ICE ON A MISSISSIPPI BRIDGE

UTICA, MS

Mississippi Highway Patrol investigating a fatal accident that happened on Tuesday morning. 

Trooper Eric Henry says that a two car accident happened at around 7:16 am. 

He says 24-year-old Tranell Jones of Utica was driving his car on Hwy 18 across the White Oak Creek Bridge in Utica when he lost control of the car after hitting a patch of ice. 

Jones crossed over into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Blue Bell Ice Cream truck.

When first responders arrived, they had to use the jaws of life to get him out. Jones died at the scene. 

The driver of the ice cream truck was not injured.
