FATAL HEAD-ON COLLISION BETWEEN A CAR AND A SEMI-TRUCK IN BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA

BAKERSFIELD,
Calif. - Bakersfield's Di Giorgio Road is back open following a three hour
closure of the lanes due to a deadly head-on collision between a car, and a
semi-truck.
The road
reopened overnight following the incident.
The
accident happened around 12 a.m. this morning on Di Giorgio Road, just a half
mile west of south Edison Road. According to officials with California Highway
Patrol, a man driving a Toyota sedan crashed head-on into a semi-truck.
The driver
of the car was killed instantly. Officials say however, that the person behind
the wheel of the semi-truck was not injured.
The exact
cause of the crash is still unknown—and whether or not drugs, alcohol, or speed
was a factor in the incident.
The
identity of the victim has not yet been released.
