CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) —

The Chesterfield Fire Department and HAZMAT crews are working to clean up a substance that leaked into a creek in the area of the 6600 block of Public Safety Way early Saturday afternoon.

Units on the scene confirmed that the substance is or a by-product of anti-freeze and that it leaked into the creek from an HVAC system at the nearby Chesterfield County Jail.

The substance has been contained and contractors have been called in to assist in the clean-up process.

Officials say the public is not in danger unless someone enters the water.
