MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — A 7-year-old girl died Saturday
following a rollover crash near Manor, the Texas Department of Public Safety
said. Five other people suffered serious injuries.
Troopers say a Ford F-350 pickup truck carrying 6 people was
traveling north on FM 973 just north of U.S. 290 when it hydroplaned, hit the
median and rolled several times. Investigators say Perla Almanza, 7, was
ejected from the back middle seat of the truck. Austin-Travis County EMS medics
rushed her to Dell Children’s Medical Center with critical life threatening
injuries. She died at the hospital.
Almanza was the only occupant in the truck not wearing a
seat belt, troopers said. Two other children, a teenager and two adults
suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was backed up for several hours in the area as DPS
troopers investigated.
