An oil
truck making a delivery in the Town of Pleasant Valley slid down a driveway and
overturned Friday, spilling a small amount of oil, according to the Dutchess
County Sheriff's Office.
The
incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. on Netherwood Road, near Travis Road,
according to Capt. John Watterson.
Watterson
said the driver was backing the truck up the driveway at 906 Netherwood Rd.
when he lost control on ice, at which point the truck slid down the driveway
and rolled onto its side.
The truck,
owned and operated by Buy Rite Oil Co. of Lagrangeville, spilled fewer than 20
of the 2,650 total gallons it had in its tank at the time, Watterson said.
There were
no injuries and no charges filed Friday.
The Sheriff's
Office was assisted by the Dutchess County HazMat team, the Pleasant Valley
Fire Department and the state Department of Environmental Conservation's spill
response team.
