Service Restored
To Hundreds Of Homes After Gas Break In Rogers Park, Chicago by a crew of
the water department.
December 26, 2014 6:05 PM
(CBS) – All natural gas
service is back on this morning- for 200 homes in the Rogers Park neighborhood
affected by a gas main break.
There was no heat overnight to those homes
near the 2500 block of West Fargo Avenue.
A crew from the water department accidentally hit a gas
main Friday afternoon “causing some sort of substance to shoot out of the pipes” (obviously, natural gas shoot out of the
broken gas pipe, as hundreds of people were without gas service”.
Several homes were evacuated. Warming buses were
provided for people without gas service.
Peoples Gas worked through the night to repair the
problem and get the neighborhood back online.
No injuries were reported.
