A woman is dead after being hit by a dump truck near Lake Shore Blvd. W. and Park Lawn Rd. Thursday morning.
Toronto paramedics were called to the intersection at 7:37 a.m.
A pedestrian believed to be in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the woman was attempting to cross from the east side of Park Lawn Rd. to the west side when she was struck in the second lane by the southbound truck. The woman was then dragged “for a distance” before the truck stopped.
There were no traffic lights in the area she was trying to cross.
The truck driver remained at the scene.
Police have shut down the intersection and a portion of Park Lawn Rd. for investigation and are also encouraging drivers to avoid the eastbound exit ramp to Park Lawn Rd.
