NEW YORK (WABC) --
A New York City science teacher has been arrested in connection with
a drone that illegally flew over the U.S. Open Thursday.At 1 a.m. Friday, Daniel Varley, 26, was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, reckless operation of a drone and operating a drone in a New York City public park outside of prescribed area for doing so.
He was found at a marina on the opposite side of Citi Field immediately after the incident.
The drone disrupted a tennis match at the U.S. Open. in Flushing.
It crashed into the stands at Louis Armstrong Stadium around 8:30 p.m. during a match between Flavia Pennetta and Monica Niculescu.
The drone did not hit any spectators.
