MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — A fire at a Manchester scrap yard is under investigation. It happened Tuesday at Ostrinksy’s Scrap Metal Yard on Parker Street.
Crews were called to the scene just before 11 a.m. after workers reported seeing flames at the base of a scrap pile. When the fire department arrived a 40 foot wide, 20 foot high pile of used appliances was on fire. The fire was out by 1 p.m.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called to the scene to figure out if there would be an environmental impact but determined there was minimal danger from hazardous materials.
Ostrinksy’s Scrap Metal Yard remains open.
