CODY, Wyo. (AP) —
The Park County Sheriff’s Office says there appear to be no survivors after a small twin-engine plane crashed in northwest Wyoming.
The sheriff’s office says the plane went down Saturday afternoon near Buffalo Bill Reservoir, northwest of Logan Mountain.
Salt Lake City air traffic control monitors contacted the Park County Sheriff’s Office and said the plane had suddenly dropped off their radar. Ground teams reached the scene, but recovery was suspended due to darkness. Recovery efforts resumed Sunday.
The sheriff’s office said Sunday that due to the condition of the crash site, the identity of the plane as well as the identity or number of victims could not be confirmed. The crash is still under investigation.
The aircraft impacted mountainous terrain northwest of Buffalo Bill Reservoir and Yellowstone Regional Airport (KCOD), Cody, Wyoming. The airplane sustained substantial damage and the occupant(s) onboard received fatal injuries in an apparent non-survivable event.
