CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
Dozens of cars were overcome with water in the latest round
of heavy rain that brought widespread flooding to parts of Corpus Christi.
The majority of the flooding from the slow-moving storm was
along I-37 and also the Crosstown Expressway.
At Brownlee and I-37, the water was up to the roof of one
Chrysler.
Another eight cars got stuck underneath the Crosstown at
Port Avenue.
Quite a few drivers sought shelter on higher ground in
convenient store parking lots along Port, waiting for the water to go down.
Police and firefighters spent hours responding to stalled
cars and eventually rescuing drivers who needed help getting out of their
vehicles.
