Coast Guard suspends search response for missing boater near Fort Howard Park, Md.

BALTIMORE, MD

The Coast Guard suspended its search at 3 p.m. Wednesday for a missing boater in the vicinity of Fort Howard Park near Sparrows Point.

Coast Guard crews and partner agencies searched for Jon W. Conrad III from approximately 12 p.m. Tuesday until 3 p.m. Wednesday. The search encompassed an area of approximately 80 square miles.

The search began at approximately 11:45 a.m. Tuesday when personnel from Baltimore County Aviation contacted Coast Guard Sector Baltimore Command Center watchstanders and reported an adrift sailboat. 

The search involved Coast Guard crews from Station Curtis Bay, the Coast Guard Cutter Mako homeported in Cape May, New Jersey, and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Also involved in the search are personnel from Maryland Natural Resources Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Baltimore County Police and Baltimore County Fire and Dive team.
