The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to Saint-Zotique, Quebec, to assess the grounding of the bulk carrier Algoma Spirit. The TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.

The bulk carrier Algoma Spirit lost power and ran aground in St Lawrence river and blocked the waterway near Cornwall Island.
The ship was making a voyage from Port Weller to Port Port Cartier in Canada, when got full blackout and lost power a miles off international bridge in Cornwall Island.
The ship stuck with stern and bottom and was unable to refloat by own power. The coming low time, make the situation even worse and two tugs were unable to assist with refloating.
The authorities in Canada are struggling to move a grounded bulker Algoma Spirit, which stopped the commercial shipping in the vicinity, but still without success. The ship will need to be lightened and will be towed to safe depth at high tide. According to preliminary inspection the hull has no serious damages the ship has enough seaworthiness to be refloated.
