A highly-toxic chemical spill closed part of a Missouri highway
on Sunday.
It happened when two, 1,000 gallon tanks of anhydrous
ammonia fell off a truck and ruptured on I-70 west of St. Louis.
The concentrated ammonia started leaking from the broken
tanks- forcing the closure of the highway and evacuations of nearby businesses.
The gas is highly toxic, corrosive to tissue, and can be
deadly in high doses.
The highway has reopened after the spill.
