Investigators are still figuring out what caused a freight
train to derail Wednesday afternoon along Highway 95A, 10 miles south of
Trinity, and about 20 miles north of Fallon.
Household furniture, batteries, and even wine were inside, but no hazardous materials spilled.
Because the accident happened along one of Union Pacific's main rails, the crash is causing substantial delays across the Western U.S.
"We have about 30 trains that have been delayed or rerouted as a result, and that's why it's very important for Union Pacific to get the tracks cleared out,” says Francisco Castillo, spokesperson, Union Pacific.
Castillo says the track should reopen by Friday morning, however, crews will still be on scene cleaning up the mess for at least a week.
Two people were on board but nobody was hurt in the crash.
