A maintenance worker has been killed on the job at the Coney Island Houses in Brooklyn.  The houses are the property of the NYC Housing Authority.

New York City Housing Authority Chairwoman Shola Olatoye (Oh-LAH'-twoh-yay) says the authority is "deeply saddened by the loss" of 31-year-old Toni Jackson on Saturday.

The authority did not provide any details of the accident that killed Jackson.
Jakwon (JAY'-kwon) Rivers, a shop steward with Jackson's union, Teamsters Local 237, says a faulty hoist fell on her.

Rivers is demanding an investigation into safety practices at the authority.
He says Jackson was the mother of two children.
