A construction
worker was seriously injured after falling from scaffolding at the site of a
new synagogue in Hackney.
The man, who
ambulance crews said was aged in his 30s, also suffered chest injuries in the
accident at the site in Overlea Road just before 5pm on Tuesday.
The site is being
redeveloped as a synagogue and community centre, a spokesman for Jewish
neighbourhood watch group Shomrim North East London said.
Paramedics from the
London Ambulance Service took him to the Royal London hospital for treatment.
They were supported
by ambulance workers from Hatzola North London, a voluntary Jewish medical
organisation.
