DUTCHESS COUNTY, NEW YORK
A minor freight train derailment on a set of Metro-North
tracks in Dutchess County has damaged some of the tracks, causing delays on the
Hudson line, officials say.
Two of the 85 cars on the CSX freight train derailed just
south of Beacon at about 2 a.m., according to Metro-North.
Two of the three tracks were damaged as a result, officials
said. One of them is a storage track and the other is a Metro-North passenger
line track.
Crews will be working through the day to fix the damaged
tracks, and repairs could continue into Sunday, Metro-North says.
Passengers should expect delays on the Hudson line. Updates
can be found at the Metro-North website.
There were no hazardous materials on the train, and no
spills during the derailment, officials said.
