BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT
Firefighters narrowly escaped an airborne propane tank when
they responded to a fire that has displaced about a dozen people in Bridgeport,
CT.
Firefighters responded to the fire at the Grove Street house
near Laurel Avenue at around 9 p.m. Monday. They had been setting up their fire
hoses and were about 20 feet away when a propane tank attached to a grill
exploded.
A fire and then a propane tank exploded on a second floor at
152 Grove Street this Monday night. The
homeowner credited their daughter for getting everyone out of the house safely.
Neighbors across the street said all they saw was smoke
coming from the home until the explosion shook their home and then they saw
cinders flying upward. There were no reported injuries.
Assistant fire Chief Chistopher Martin lead the attack on
the fire. Firefighters had to open up walls to fully extinguish the stubborn
fire that extended to the third floor. Firefighters had the fire contained
within a half hour.
