MARCH 21, 2015
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP , NEW JERSEY
Two people were killed in a crash on the Atlantic City
Expressway Friday afternoon, State Police said.
At about 1:29 p.m., Sean McBride, 35, of Egg Harbor
Township, was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty with passenger Gabrielle Lynnes, 31,
of Marmora, when he lost control of the vehicle on the westbound side of the
Atlantic City Expressway at mile-marker 40.4, State Police said in a Facebook
post.
McBride's Jeep crashed into a 2003 BMW that was stopped on
the right shoulder, State Police said.
The driver of the BMW -- Scott Lerario, 38, of Linwood
-- was outside of the car checking on a flat when he was struck and thrown
by the Jeep Liberty, State Police said.
When troopers arrived on the scene, McBride and Lynnes were
being removed from the Jeep, which had caught fire, State Police said.
All three individuals were transported to AtlantiCare
Medical Center with injuries, State Police said.
McBride and Lynnes were later pronounced dead at the
hospital, State Police said. Lerario was listed in stable condition.
State Police said the cause and circumstances of the crash
are currently under investigation. It
appears that these two dead people were going too fast for the slick, wet and snowy road conditions. It was treacherous out there and they should
have been more careful under these road conditions. What a shame to lose two young people like
that. Hopefully they did not burn alive.
