POLICE CAR HITS GAS REGULATOR AND CAUSES GAS LEAK AND EVACUATIONS

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -

Just before 9:00 pm Friday a police car hit a gas regulator on the side of an east Springfield restaurant, causing a gas leak that forced evacuations.

Lt. Stacey Parton say the officer pulled over a suspected drunk driver, and the patrol car rolled forward when the officer stepped out of the vehicle.  The officer wasn't able to get back into the car in time to stop it from hitting the side of the McSalty's at 2627 E. Sunshine.
The McSalty's and neighboring Qdoba restaurant were evacuated while crews shut off the gas.

There are no reports of injuries.
