PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (WPVI) --

A boom truck struck an overpass so hard that it twisted a railroad track on the bridge above in Pennsauken, Camden County Friday afternoon.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. on River Road near Derousse Avenue.

A witness says the truck driver for Robinson Waste Disposal of Bellmawr did not realize his boom was raised, when he tried to make it under 13-point-8 feet of clearance.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The ACRL service will remain suspended at least through the weekend between Philadelphia and Cherry Hill.

PENNSAUKEN, NJ — Part of NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Line will be suspended for at least part of the weekend after a boom truck hit a bridge Friday afternoon.

Service in both directions was suspended between Pennsauken and Cherry Hill after the truck traveling with its boom in the up position struck the bridge near River Road, east of the Pennsauken Station.

A photo of the overpass shows the rails were also damaged by the strike.

NJ Transit will provide bus service between the two stations during the closure.

The station also offers access to the River Line light rail, which will cross-honor tickets. PATCO will also cross-honor and offer service between Lindenwold and Philadelphia.

NJ Transit did not know how long repairs to the rails and bridge will take.

It’s the third mishap in New Jersey this week involving a truck.

During the Wednesday morning commute, a dump truck overturned its load of pavement sand onto Route 440 northbound between the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway, creating heavy traffic throughout the area.

A dump truck with its bed in the up position struck the Glenside Avenue overpass over Route 78 in Summit at the start of the morning commute on Thursday, which led to big delays. The overpass was not damaged in the strike.
