SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — A propane tank inside a U-Haul truck exploded Wednesday, causing residents nearby to think there was another earthquake in the area.
The incident happened near the Waffle House in the Publix shopping center near Orangeburg Road and Central Avenue.
Witnesses said the propane tank was attached to a grill in the moving truck.
Our crew on the scene says the bomb squad was called out as a precaution to monitor other tanks that had not exploded. They also report the U-Haul driver had loaded the tank Tuesday night but left the gas on. The gas built up over night and sparked while he was driving on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported.
