WARREN, New Jersey (WABC) -- A speeding New Jersey State Police trooper was involved in a serious crash that trapped him in his cruiser Monday afternoon.
The crash happened on I-78 eastbound in Warren just west of Exit 40.
The NJSP said the speeding trooper's vehicle was heading east when it ran off the road and struck a tree.
Emergency crews had to cut the trooper out of the vehicle. He was then transported by helicopter to the hospital.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of I-78 have been shut down for the investigation.
The speeding trooper's condition is not known.
