Police asked the woman to get out of the vehicle because they believed she was intoxicated.

Before a field sobriety test could begin, officers say another woman struck the police cruiser that was stopped on the side of the road, pinning the first woman between the two vehicles.

Life Flight was called but was cancelled. The victim was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital with severe leg trauma, possibly breaking both legs.

Investigators say the woman who hit the parked patrol vehicle was on her way home from celebrating her 53rd birthday.

Police suspect she was also intoxicated, and was transported to a hospital for a blood draw.

The officer involved in the incident was not hurt.
