FLORENCE TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A woman was killed and an off-duty police officer was injured after a crash early Friday morning in Burlington County.

The car hit a utility pole around 2:10 a.m. on West Front Street and Woodlawn Avenue in Florence Township.

Ariana Williams, 27, of Florence Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say she was a passenger in a car driven by that off-duty cop, 25-year-old Justin Rodriguez, of Burlington Township. Rodriguez was ejected from the vehicle and is hospitalized in critical condition.

Preliminary information reveals speed was a factor in the crash, police say. Blood was drawn for a toxicology test.

No charges have been filed at this time.
