WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Police and fire officials say heavy rains may have caused a building to collapse in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.

The building in question is home to a property management company, located on the 900 block of North Walnut Street.

Police and fire officials say heavy rains may have caused a building to collapse in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.

It happened sometime Friday morning before anyone arrived for work.

Sources tell Action News crews were working on a lot next door, and the wet weather may have caused the ground to weaken.
No injuries were reported.

The rain did not cause the collapse.  There was most likely a lack of long-term maintenance and massive water intrusion.  The building was already deteriorated.  The rain merely expedited the inevitable.
