At about 12:30 p.m., the crew aboard the 36-foot sailing vessel Eiger Stubli contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England, and reported that Eiger Stubli and the 40-foot sailing vessel Mame had collided.

A 29-foot response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Burlington, already underway, diverted to the scene, and a rescue boat from Clinton County Sheriff's Department launched. Marine Patrol deputies responded to the northeast area of Deep Bay at 1:11 p.m.

The Coast Guard crew established a safety zone, ensured no further injuries and that both vessels were stable.

Authorities took the injured woman, who suffered multiple injuries to her right leg and head, to Mooney Bay Marina, where they were met by EMS personnel.
The woman was then taken to The University of Vermont’s Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

A total of five people were aboard both boats. There were no other injuries.

Authorities said their initial investigation indicates that the bow of one vessel struck and went onto the aft of the second vessel, where the victim was found, resulting in her being struck by the anchor/bow of the boat.

Both vessels sustained damage as a result of the collision, but were able to leave the scene under their own power.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol were assisted at the scene by the Beekmantown Fire Department, CVPH EMS and the Cumberland Head Fire Department
