Plane crash near Buena Vista kills one

BUENA VISTA, Colo. -- A plane crash near Buena Vista in Chaffee County killed one person Monday afternoon.
Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze said the plane went down about two miles north of Buena Vista around 12:15 p.m.
The wreckage of the single-engine plane was in an open field.
Spezze said a team from the Federal Aviation Administral was also on the way to investigate the crash. The sheriff's office was working on securing the crash scene for investigators.
The identity of the person who died has not been released.

The experimental aircraft impacted open field terrain in Chafee County northwest of Central Colorado Regional Airport (KAEJ), Buena Vista, Colorado. The airplane sustained unreported damage and the sole pilot on-board received fatal injuries.
